There's a lot of uncertainty for the Philadelphia 76ers heading into the 2025-26 NBA season.
After finishing last season with a ton of injuries and a disappointing 24-58 record, head coach Nick Nurse and the team will go back to the drawing boards in hopes of finding a more successful formula for winning.
A large question that still stands for Philadelphia, with less than a month until their season opener on Oct. 22, is with restricted free agent Quentin Grimes.
Shams Charania: Grims and 76ers are 'very far apart' on new contract
Quentin Grimes was one of the few bright spots in the Philadelphia 76ers' 2024-25 season after arriving in a trade from the Dallas Mavericks. In 28 games with the team, the 25-year-old averaged 21.9 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 4.5 assists while shooting 46.9% from the field.
This offseason, he joined players like the Chicago Bulls' Josh Giddey, the Brooklyn Nets' Cam Thomas, and the Golden State Warriors' Jonathan Kuminga in restricted free agency. Giddey and Thomas were able to work out deals, but Grimes and Kuminga remain unsigned.
Heading into Wednesday, Grimes' future with the 76ers remains up in the air. Senior NBA insider Shams Charania reported that both sides are still "very far apart" in getting a deal done.
It appears that the 76ers must be offering a deal that Quentin Grimes is unwilling to sign, drawing uncertainty in the breakout forward's future in Philadelphia.
