Report: 76ers' Joel Embiid 'is as healthy as he has been for two years' image

Philadelphia 76ers superstar Joel Embiid has been labeled as one of the NBA's most disappointing players throughout the past two years while battling numerous knee injuries.

Almost halfway through the regular season, Embiid has found something that hasn't been seen from him since his MVP season in 2022-23. The rest of the league should be on the lookout for the 76ers down the stretch.

The 31-year-old is beginning to play more consistently, and the former NBA MVP is starting to catch momentum.

Embiid: "I didn't know whether I would be able to play at this level again."

The Athletic's Tony Jones wrote on the gradual come-up of Joel Embiid over the past two months, saying, "This is as healthy as he has been for two years."

"It means everything," Embiid said to The Athletic. "I didn't know whether I would be able to play at this level again. I'm not quite there, but I'm getting there. It just feels good to be able to be in this position."

Over his last 13 appearances, Embiid is averaging 26.0 points, 8.0 rebounds, and 3.4 assists in 32.1 minutes per game.

He's still not playing every game for Philadelphia, but Embiid is trending in the right direction towards being able to do so at some point this season.

Not just this, but the 76ers are right in the playoff mix in the East. This is something that couldn't be said of the team in 2024-25, when they finished with a 24-58 record and missed the playoffs for the first time since the 2016-17 season.

Although both Embiid and Paul George are still working their way back to full health, momentum is rolling in Philadelphia.
