Promising signs for Philadelphia 76ers big man Dominick Barlow after scary fall image

Dominick Barlow has become one of the most reliable big men for the Philadelphia 76ers this season. From averaging only 10 minutes per game for the Atlanta Hawks in the 2024-25 campaign, Barlow has earned his spot in the regular rotation in Philly.

He might be looking at a spell on the sidelines after he went back to the locker room on Wednesday. Barlow got his shot blocked by Cleveland Cavaliers star Evan Mobley, but it led to a bad fall for the 76ers' big man.

The X-ray scans look promising for Barlow

Since Barlow could not return to the game, the 76ers' staff immediately took him to get X-ray scans. After the game, 76ers head coach Nick Nurse informed everyone that the scans looked good, so only the MRI is needed to confirm what will happen with Barlow.

It is a shame to have him out injured because he has been rock-solid for the 76ers this season. Considering Joel Embiid is often playing with a time limit due to his constant injuries, Barlow has stepped up for Nurse and the 76ers.

This season, Barlow has been superb during his 25 minutes per game. He is averaging 8.5 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 1.4 assists per night. He is also quite efficient from the field, so he is a perfect partner for players like Tyrese Maxey and Jared McCain.

Losing him would be significant for the 76ers because they need depth in the frontcourt. Of course, they still have players like Trendon Watford and Jabari Walker to step up, but they are not as ingrained as Barlow in the regular rotation.

The MRIs will tell the whole story for the 76ers, as they will find out what will happen to Barlow. He was down for a while and then struggled to walk after the fall. That is not a good sign, but in the long run, the 76ers hope he can come back as soon as possible.
