Tyrese Maxey has been great for Philadelphia since being taken No. 21 overall by the 76ers in 2020. In five seasons for Philly, Maxey is averaging 19.5 points, 4.4 assists and 3.3 rebounds. Maxey's most successful season came last year where he averaged 26.3 points, 6.1 assists, 3.3 rebounds and 1.8 steals per game. As a 76er, Maxey has also won the Most Improved Player Award and has made one All-Star appearance thus far.

Once a beloved figure by Philadelphia fans, that may have changed today. Ahead of Thursday Night Football between the Philadelphia Eagles and Dallas Cowboys, Tyrese Maxey took to X and said: "PHILLY FAM… Yall know I love you guys DEARLY and I’m soooo happy the city got a ring! BUT TODAY… WE BEEFING GO COWBOYS." Maxey added crying laughing emojis, citing a friendly rivalry with his hometown team and his current city.

Originally born in Dallas, Texas, before playing his high school basketball in Garland, Texas, Maxey has good reason to support the Cowboys. Philly fans however, might feel slighted with Maxey supporting his hometown team rather than his new brotherhood in Philadelphia.

That said, Philadelphia 76ers fans will be excited to have Tyrese Maxey, Paul George, Joel Embiid, and recent draft pick Jared McCain all healthy again. Although these players have quite a long injury history, they've proven to be top contributors when on the court. Similarly to the Eagles, 76ers fans will hope for a healthy season from their core in hopes of returning to the playoffs after missing out last season.
