While getting a couple of days off before traveling to Detroit to take on the Pistons on Friday, the Philadelphia 76ers went back to the drawing boards to evaluate what would be best for the team.
Through 11 games, the 76ers have gotten to a much better start than last season. With a 7-4 record, Philadelphia has looked to rely on Tyrese Maxey to lead the way so far this season.
Injuries have kept them from playing at their best potential, and these problems have continued to linger. Following a frustrating start to his second year as a pro, the 76ers will be making a move on Jared McCain.
76ers send Jared McCain to G League after struggling start to 2025-26 season
Jared McCain hasn't played in the 76ers' lineup for a long time. He missed the final 59 games of last season after tearing his meniscus as a rookie, then sat out the start of this season while recovering from a torn UCL in his shooting hand suffered during the offseason.
The growing pains are evident. In his first three games back, with a minutes restriction, McCain hasn't logged any points, shooting zero-for-nine from the field, and has averaged 0.7 rebounds and 1.3 assists.
As the 21-year-old continues to find his stride again, 76ers insider Adam Aaronson announced that McCain will be sent down to the G League "so he can get minutes and continue acclimating."
The No. 16 pick in last year's draft is still adjusting after multiple setbacks over the past year. Playing at a lower level may be just what McCain needs to regain the form he showed before his injuries, when he averaged 15.3 points per game and shot 46 percent from the field.
