Paolo Banchero is an incredibly talented basketball player.
But for whatever reason, the Orlando Magic are a worse team when he's on the floor than when he's not.
This isn't a fluke. This is every year of Banchero's career.
His on-off rating, which measures a team's points per possession when a player is in the game versus not, has been negative in each of the four seasons Banchero has played in the NBA so far.
He's one of just four players in the league to be in the negative each of his first four seasons in this stat, along with Zach LaVine, Collin Sexton and Rui Hachimura.

And yes, despite this seeming weird, we've confirmed that those are Banchero's legitimate numbers.
It's obviously not an ideal situation for Orlando at all. Banchero is really good at basketball. The hope for the Magic would be that it starts to translate more and more to winning.
They traded for Desmond Bane this offseason to form a big three with Banchero and Franz Wagner. They're committed to this group.
To reach their ceiling, though, they'll need Banchero to play better in all facets of the game.
