Just one day after Chet Holmgren received a huge payday, the Thunder handed out yet another huge contract.
How much was Jalen Williams paid?
ESPN's Shams Charania reported that Jalen Williams signed a 5-yr extension that "could reach $287 million."
This news came just a few weeks after the Thunder won the NBA Finals for the first time.
Holmgren and Williams got their first career big extensions, but the Thunder also handed franchise player Shai Gilgeous-Alexander a contract worth just under $300 million, a couple of weeks ago.
We've seen teams like the Celtics deal with the issues that come with nearing the second apron, so the Thunder might have to capitalize on the window they have over the next few seasons, before the salaries really start to kick in.
Either way, Williams deserved the extension, especially after how he performed in the regular season and playoffs this past season.
In the 2024-25 NBA season, Williams averaged 21.6 points, 5.3 rebounds and 5.1 assists and 1.6 steals.
