The Oklahoma City Thunder is currently the best team in the league, having a 36-8 record. This past week has been interesting to say the least. Jalen Williams was injured during their game against the Miami Heat after suffering a right hamstring strain. He will be sidelined for at least two weeks. However, one player continues to be the pillar that holds the Thunder together after receiving an award.

Shai continues his impressive consistency

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander has been named Western Conference Player of the Week for Week 13. He averaged 31 points, 4 assists, and 6.5 rebounds while shooting 54.7% from the field. He led the Thunder to a 2-1 record during the span.

The Thunder has been enjoying Shai’s presence so far this season. He continues to perform at a high level with his impressive scoring display. He’s currently 12 games away from tying Wilt Chamberlain’s consecutive 20-point record. This only adds fuel to his back-to-back MVP case, especially with the absence of Nikola Jokic.

Shai winning the Western Conference Player of the Week marks the third time he received the award this season alone. With players like Jalen Williams and Isaiah Hartenstein out due to injuries, Chet Holmgren and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander will gain more usage and do whatever they can to hold the best record in the league. The Thunder will play against the Milwaukee Bucks tomorrow, January 20th.
