The streets of downtown Oklahoma City were filled with joy and celebration on Tuesday as the Oklahoma City Thunder held their 2025 NBA Championship parade. Fans lined the sidewalks to cheer on the players and coaching staff after the franchise captured its first NBA title.

Leading the celebration was NBA Finals MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander who stood shirtless, draped in a Canadian flag, while proudly holding the Larry O'Brien Tophy in front of thousands of fans. The 26-year-old guard added another special moment to the day when Oklahoma City mayor David Holt made a major announcement during the festivities.

Mayor Holt declared that July 30, 2025, will officially be recognized as Shai Gilgeous-Alexander Day in Oklahoma City, an honor celebrating not only his Finals MVP performance but also his 2024-25 regular season MVP campaign.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander was electric during the 2025 NBA Playoffs, leading the Thunder through a grueling 23-game postseason run. He averaged:

  • 29.9 points per game
  • 6.5 assists per game

  • 87.6% free throw shooting

In the decisive Game 7 of the NBA Finals against the Indiana Pacers, SGA delivered a clutch performance:
