Thunder vs. Timberwolves prediction: Odds, betting advice, player prop bets for Game 2 on Thursday May 22 image

The Thunder host the Timberwolves in Game 2 of the Western Conference Finals on Thursday, after blowing them away 114-88 in the series opener. Minnesota will look to bounce back and steal home court, while OKC hopes to extend to a crucial 2-0 advantage in the best-of-seven series.

The Sporting News will dive into the NBA betting odds for this conference title tilt, and also hand-pick the best bets and top props for the evening. We'll make our final score prediction, as well as the optimal spread and over/under plays.

Can Anthony Edwards recover from a terrible Game 1 performance and lead the Wolves to a massive upset? Or, will Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Jalen Williams and company hold court at the Paycom Center and move one step closer to the NBA Finals?

Let's get to our betting preview for Game 2 of the Western Conference Finals between the Thunder and Wolves, including the odds, our game pick and the top player props.

Thunder vs. Timberwolves Game 2: Spread, moneyline, over/under

All odds and props are from BetMGM, an authorized gaming operator of the NBA.

  • ATS: Thunder -7.5 (-110) | Timberwolves +7.5 (-110)
  • Moneyline: Thunder -300 | Timberwolves +240
  • Over/under: O 214.5 (-110) | U 214.5 (-110)

After the Thunder's convincing 26-point victory on Tuesday, oddsmakers have gone right back to the same projected spread they gave OKC ahead of Game 1. They did, however, knock down the over/under from 219.5 on Tuesday to 214.5.

Thunder vs. Timberwolves Game 2 best bets and final score prediction

After what went down on Tuesday, pretty much everyone you know probably thinks the Thunder will win this one handily. We're not so sure — in fact, we think this might be a good opportunity to get some value on the road underdogs.

Minnesota has gone 20-15 following a loss since the start of the 2024-25 NBA season. The Wolves have also gone 18-16-1 against the spread following a defeat. And, perhaps most importantly, they've gone 4-2 ATS when books make them a 'dog of seven or more points.

Anthony Edwards can't possibly be as bad in Game 2 as he was on Tuesday. He shot just 5-of-13 for 18 points and his plus-minus on the night was a woeful -23. His issues with finding a rhythm also hurt his supporting cast — Mike Conley, Rudy Gobert, Donte DiVincenzo, Naz Reid and Nickeil Alexander-Walker combined to shoot 10-of-47.

That's atrocious. And while Minnesota may not pose the best challenge OKC has faced this season (or even this postseason), it's not that bad of an offense. The Thunder are also a great defense, but they're not quite good enough to hold the Wolves to team shooting splits of 34.9/29.4/71.4 two games in a row. Game 1 was a prime case of rust — Minnesota hadn't played a game in nearly a week, after gentleman-sweeping the hobbled Warriors last Wednesday.

If Chris Finch's squad takes better care of the ball, moves it around a little better, and gets higher-quality shots, it can easily bounce back and at least compete. The Wolves also need to get ferocious — they got outscored by SGA, JDub, Chet Holmgren and company 54-20 in the paint on Tuesday. It's time for Gobert and Reid to step it up and get aggressive.

The Thunder will more than likely win this game, but don't expect Mark Daigneault's squad to cover two straight 7.5-point spreads. The Wolves are a prideful team, and they got their wakeup call of the year on Tuesday. Take the road 'dogs to cover in a physical and chippy Game 2.

FINAL SCORE PREDICTION: Thunder 109, Wolves 104 — OKC wins but Minnesota covers (+7.5), while the score finishes UNDER the projected total of 214.5.

Thunder vs. Timberwolves Game 2 top player prop bet

Julius Randle, F, Wolves: OVER 19.5 points (-105)

Randle has been playing arguably the best basketball of his career, and his aggressive and assertive play is a big reason why the Wolves slayed LeBron's Lakers and Jimmy Butler's Dubs. If Minnesota wants to even sniff the Finals, he will need to keep scoring early and often.

The 30-year-old vet has scored 20-plus points in nine of Minnesota's past 10 games this postseason, and he's coming off an efficient 28-point and eight-rebound Game 1 effort. He's the most consistent and efficient player on the Wolves, and he's a great bet to score at least 20 again on Thursday.

If you want plus odds, get creative and craft up a mini-parlay with minimal volatility. You can combine this prop with the Wolves +20.5, yielding +108 odds and giving you two legs that are very likely to hit.
