NBA free agency tracker 2022: Live updates on breaking news, signings and trades image

When the clock strikes 6:00 p.m. ET on Thursday, June 30, free-agent negotiations will begin.

This year's free-agent class isn't one of the deepest in recent memory, but it's still headlined by a trio of multi-time All-Stars in Zach LaVine, Bradley Beal and James Harden. It also features one of the league's rising stars in Deandre Ayton and one of this season's breakout players in Jalen Brunson.

While players can't officially sign deals until 12:01 p.m. ET on July 6, plenty of them will agree to terms over the coming week. As they do, The Sporting News will be tracking all of the notable signings and trades.

T.J. Warren heads to Brooklyn

The Athletic's Shams Charania reports that T.J. Warren, who last played for the Pacers at the beginning of the 2020-21 season, has signed a one-year deal with the Nets.

Serge Ibaka to stay in Milwaukee

The Bucks acquired Ibaka at the deadline to shore up their frontcourt, but the veteran center wasn't in the team's playoff rotation, appearing in just six of 12 games. According to The Athletic's Shams Charania, Ibaka will return to the Bucks for the upcoming season.

Bulls nab Goran Dragic

After a brief stint in Brooklyn, the 36-year-old is headed to Chicago, according to The Athletic's Shams Charania. There, he will serve as a key member of the team's guard rotation alongside Lonzo Ball, Alex Caruso, Ayo Dosunmu and Coby White.

Josh Okogie to sign with Suns

Per The Athletic's Shams Charania, Okogie, a fierce wing defender, is headed to Phoenix after Minnesota declined to offer him a qualifying offer. Soon to be 24, Okogie has an opportunity to prove himself in a championship-level environment.

Suns acquire Warriors Damion Lee

The Warriors' championship guard Damion Lee is headed to the Suns on a one-year deal, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.

Bryn Forbes headed to Minnesota 

The Timberwolves have had a busy day. According to Jon Krawczynski of The Athletic, the Wolves have agreed to a deal with Bryn Forbes. The terms of the deal have yet to be announced. 

Donte DiVicenzo is going to the champs

After losing some key pieces in free agency so far, the Warriors have added Donte DiVincenzo to their squad on a two-year, $9.3 million deal, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic. 

The deal has a player option in year two. The Warriors use a chunk of their tax mid-level to land DiVincenzo. 

Rudy Gobert heading to Timberwolves

According to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, the Jazz are trading Rudy Gobert to the Timberwolves. In return, Utah is receiving Malik Beasley, Patrick Beverley, Walker Kessler, Jarred Vanderbilt, Leandro Bolmaro and four first-round picks.

Kevon Looney returns to Warriors

The Warriors have re-signed starting center Kevon Looney to a three-year, $25.5 million deal, ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reports. Looney played a key role for Golden State during its 2022 NBA title run, averaging 5.8 points and 7.6 rebounds per game while holding down the paint. 

Celtics acquire Malcolm Brogdon

According to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, the Celtics have acquired Malcolm Brogdon from the Pacers for Daniel Theis, Aaron Nesmith, Nik Stauskas, Malik Fitts, Juwan Morgan and a 2023 first-round pick.

Zach LaVine, Bulls agree to max contract

LaVine is staying with the Bulls on a five-year, $215.2 million contract, per Shams Charania of The Athletic. LaVine has a player option in the fifth year of his contract.

Blazers add some guard depth with Gary Payton II 

Gary Payton II parlayed his great 2021-22 season into a nice payday as the Portland Trail Blazers have reportedly signed the guard on a three-year, $28 million deal, according to Chris Haynes of Yahoo! Sports. 

The deal includes a player option and incentives. 

Payton was a key player in the Warriors' run to their fourth NBA title in eight seasons this past season.

Bulls get froncourt depth in Andre Drummond

The Bulls needed some frontcourt help and they'll get that in Drummond who has reportedly signed a two-year, $6.6 million deal, according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.

After being traded to the Nets at the deadline last season, Drummond averaged 11.8 points and 10.3 rebounds per game in Brooklyn.

Lakers add two young wings

The Lakers have targeted more youthful pieces in free agency so far. According to The Athletic's Shams Charania, Los Angeles has signed both Lonnie Walker IV and Troy Brown Jr.

Walker, 23, is a high-flying athlete who averaged 12.1 points per game for the Spurs last season. Brown, 22, is a versatile wing who just two seasons ago averaged 10.4 points, 5.6 rebounds and 2.4 assists per game for the Wizards.

UPDATE: The Lakers have also signed Juan Toscano-Anderson, a champion with the Warriors this past season. Toscano-Anderson, 29, is a lengthy defender who can guard multiple positions.

Marvin Bagley III finds a home in Detroit

The Pistons traded for the former No. 2 overall pick last season and Bagley was solid for his new team, averaging 14.6 points and 6.8 rebounds per game.

Detroit seems to like his potential for the future of the franchise, as it has signed Bagley to a three-year, $37 million deal, per Yahoo Sports' Chris Haynes.

Mo Bamba returns to Magic on two-year deal

Despite rumors that the Magic were ready to move on from Bamba, the former top-five pick has signed a two-year, $21 million deal to return to Orlando, per Yahoo Sports' Chris Haynes.

Bamba, 24, averaged 10.6 points, 8.1 rebounds, 1.7 blocks and 1.5 3s per game last season.

Luguentz Dort signs lucrative extension with Thunder

The Thunder have reportedly reached a five-year, $87.5 million deal with Dort, one of the league's premier defensive stoppers. Dort averaged career-highs across the board last season, posting 17.2 points, 4.2 rebounds, 1.7 assists and 0.9 steals per game.

Lakers lose Malik Monk, sign Damian Jones

The Lakers lost out on Monk, who signed a two-year, $19 million deal with the Kings, per a number of sources.

Los Angeles did make one signing so far, though. It added frontcourt depth in Jones – a 27-year-old center who averaged 8.1 points and 4.4 rebounds for the Kings last season – on a two-year deal, per ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski. The dollar amount has not yet been announced.

Anfernee Simons lands $100 million extension in Portland

The Trail Blazers have locked up their 23-year-old rising star for the future, inking Simons to a four-year, $100 million contract extension, per ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.

Simons enjoyed a breakout season last year, averaging 17.3 points and 3.9 assists per game.

PJ Tucker signs with 76ers

As reports indicated leading up to free agency, Tucker will reunite with his former teammate in James Harden and former front office personnel in Daryl Morey by signing a three-year, $33.2 million deal with the 76ers, The Athletic's Shams Charania announced.

Superstars Nikola Jokic, Devin Booker, Bradley Beal reach max contract extensions

Right as free agency tipped off, The Athletic's Shams Charania reported two massive deals for stars reaching max contract extensions.

Reigning two-time MVP Nikola Jokic has agreed to a five-year, $264 million supermax extension with the Nuggets, while Devin Booker has agreed to a four-year, $214 million supermax contract with the Suns. Charania also added that Booker will be the cover athlete for NBA 2K23.

ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski also joined in on the fun, announcing Bradley Beal's five-year, $251 million max contract to stay with the Wizards.

Knicks sign Jalen Brunson to $104 million deal

The Mavericks were expected to get one more meeting with Brunson, but NBA Insider Marc Stein was first to report that the meeting was called off moments before free agency began.

Ensuingly, The Athletic's Shams Charania reported Brunson intended to sign a four-year, "near" $110 million deal with the Knicks.

Later in the evening, ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski finalized the report, announcing the Knicks have landed Brunson for four years, $104 million. He has a player option in the final year of his deal.

The Nets acquire Royce O'Neale from Jazz

During the madness of Kevin Durant's trade request from Brooklyn, The Athletic's Shams Charania also reported the Nets have acquired starting forward Royce O'Neale from the Jazz in return for a 2023 first-round pick.

The Hawks acquire Dejounte Murray from Spurs

The day before free agency opened, news broke that the Hawks have agreed to trade Danilo Gallinari, three first-round picks and a pick swap to the Spurs for one-time All-Star Dejounte Murray. According to ESPN's Zach Lowe, the 2025 and 2027 first-round picks Atlanta is sending San Antonio are unprotected.
