LeBron James double-digit scoring streak: How Lakers star's 18-year run of 10-point games came to end vs. Raptors image

One of the NBA's most unique, and likely unbreakable, records came to an end on Thursday night.

LeBron James, the league's all-time leading scorer and holder of plenty of historical achievements, failed to score 10 points against the Toronto Raptors. James, who finished with eight points, even passed up on a potential game-winning shot for double-digit scoring — his assist to Rui Hachimura for a 3-pointer won it for the Los Angeles Lakers, 123-120.

James held the record for consecutive double-digit scoring games, and it wasn't even close. Now, however, the 40-year-old's streak has met its end.

Here's a look at James' all-time-leading 10-point streak, how it ended against Toronto on Thursday, and the NBA's historic leaderboards in double-digit streaks.

LeBron James double-digit scoring streak

  • 1,297 games (all-time record)

LeBron James scored at least 10 points in an NBA record 1,297 consecutive games. His streak lasted throughout his first stint with the Cleveland Cavaliers, his entire stint with the Miami Heat, his second stint with the Cavaliers, and his time with the Lakers until Dec. 4, 2025.

James has held the record for the most consecutive 10-point games for quite some time, as he surpassed Michael Jordan's mark of 866 consecutive double-digit scoring games, which lasted from 1986-2001.

While the 40-year-old James has continued to be an elite talent into his older years, it took until his 23rd NBA season for his 10-point streak to meet its end.

When is the last time LeBron James scored under 10 points?

  • Jan. 6, 2007 (vs. Bucks)

Prior to Thursday, the last time James scored under 10 points in a game was on Jan. 6, 2007. In that game, a 22-year-old James, a member of the Cavaliers, managed just eight points against the Milwaukee Bucks.

From that point on, James scored at least 10 points in every game he played until Dec. 4, 2025 against the Raptors, when he was a member of the Lakers. James' streak lasted 18 years. According to StatMuse, James now has just nine career games with single-digit points, which is less than his number of Finals appearances (10).

The world was a much different place the last time James failed to score 10 points in a game.

LeBron James stats vs. Raptors

  • Points:  8
  • Rebounds: 6
  • Assists:  11
  • Steals:  0
  • Blocks: 0
  • FG:  4-17
  • 3P: 0-5
  • FT:  0-0

A few circumstances lead to James' incredible streak meeting its end. He shot poorly from the floor, making just four of his 17 shots in 36 minutes. Additionally, he failed to get to the free-throw line, and missed all five of his 3-point attempts.

James had already cut it close with his streak in his last game, as he scored exactly 10 points against the Suns on Monday. This time around, he couldn't find one more bucket, even with a few attempts in the fourth quarter.

Still, even with his streak in peril, the NBA legend seemed to make the right play at the end of Lakers vs. Raptors. James had the ball with time ticking down in a 120-20 game, then found Hachimura in the corner, who sank a 3-pointer that won it for L.A.

Per Lakers Nation, when asked about if there was any negative feelings about his streak coming to an end, James said: "None. We won."

NBA all-time 10-point streak leaders

James' 1,297 straight games with at least 10 points are, by far, an NBA record. It also may be one that's never broken.

Years ago, James surpassed Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Michael Jordan in consecutive double-digit scoring games. Now, he's safely at the top of the mountain for the all-time leaderboard, the same way he is on the NBA's all-time scoring list.

Here are the longest 10-point streaks ever:

Active NBA 10-point streaks

With James' streak coming to an end, there is no active player even remotely close to challenging it.

Kevin Durant now owns the longest active streak of double-digit scoring games, with 267 in a row as of Dec. 3, 2025. The Houston Rockets star has been a model of scoring consistency in his career, but at age 37, he doesn't stand a chance to reach James' mark of 1,297.

Here are the new active leaders for consecutive 10-point games, with figures as of Dec. 4, 2025.
