Breen has been the lead play-by-play commentator for years, but the analysts around him have continued to change.

Why could Burke be out of her role on the lead team?
According to Andrew Marchand of The Athletic, it's not evident yet that Burke will be returning to the lead broadcast team in 25-26.
The lead team has a three-person team (PBP & two analysts), while the other teams are usually pairs (PBP & analyst).
Burke has historically done a lot of two-person team broadcasting, especially with Mark Jones.

ESPN will see if it's better to put Burke back in a similar role rather than continue alongside Breen in a three-person team that normally does the conference finals, NBA Finals and other major ESPN/ABC games.
Burke has received a lot of backlash on social media recently and throughout the years, which may contribute to the decision to make a change.
