Canada vs Germany score, results: Canadians' comeback bid falls short in FIBA Basketball World Cup tune-up game image

Canada's Senior Men's National Team put itself in an early hole against Team Germany in Wednesday's exhibition game and it nearly climbed all the way out. The Canadians came up just short, falling to the Germans by a final score of 86-81.

After facing a double-digit deficit for most of the first half, Canada stormed back and tied the game late in the fourth quarter. A couple of clutch buckets from Franz Wagner and Dennis Schroder shut the door, though, handing the Canadians a loss in their first pre-FIBA Basketball World Cup contest.

Schroder, who signed with the Raptors during the NBA offseason, led the Germans to victory with 15 points, eight rebounds and seven assists.

Canada will next face New Zealand in Hamburg on Saturday, Aug. 12.
