With the start of the FIBA Basketball World Cup just six weeks away, Canada has announced its official camp roster for the tournament.

After a disappointing 21st-place finish in 2019, the team is looking to bounce back in a big way this year. The Canucks enter with high hopes thanks to the emergence of a crop of talented young players, including NBA stars Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Jamal Murray and RJ Barrett.

Canada will begin its training camp in Toronto in early August before heading over to Europe for a series of exhibition games. They will take on Germany, New Zealand, Spain and the Dominican Republic between August 9 and August 18 in preparation for the start of the tournament on August 25.

The team will be led by head coach Jordi Fernandez, who serves as an associate head coach for the Sacramento Kings under Mike Brown. 

When is the 2023 FIBA Basketball World Cup?

  • Locations: Indonesia, Japan, the Phillippines

The 2023 FIBA Basketball World Cup begins with the Group Phase on Aug. 25, 2023. The Final Phase, or elimination round, begins on Tuesday, Sept. 5, 2023, with the championship game set for Sunday, Sept. 10 at 8:40 a.m. ET.

Canada Group, schedule at 2023 FIBA Basketball World Cup

The Canadian Men's National Team will participate in Group H and will play each game of the Group Phase at the Indonesia Arena in Jakarta. Group H consists of Canada, Latvia, Lebanon and France.

The top two finishers from Group H will advance to the Second Round, where they will be joined by the top two finishers from Group G (Iran, Spain, Ivory Coast, and Brazil).
