Former Philadelphia 76ers star Ben Simmons remains without a team with only a few weeks to go before the start of the training camp. Amid this, rumors about his potential retirement have hit the internet. One reason to believe such rumors came forward on Thursday.

According to Marc Stein, his agent Bernie Lee has officially parted ways with the former All-Star. The move leaves Simmons without representation at a critical stage in his career, giving more reason to believe that retirement might be on the horizon.

Lee signed Simmons following the player's mutual split from Klutch Sports in 2023. He played a hands-on role in managing Simmons' injury recoveries and media narrative.

After his troubled tenure with the Brooklyn Nets, the team executed a contract buyout. This made Simmons an unrestricted free agent, and he swiftly signed with the LA Clippers on a one-year contract. In his Clippers debut, he finished with 12 points, seven rebounds, six assists, three steals and one block in a 120-116 OT win over the Utah Jazz.

Simmons' declining market interest and injury issues have left him undesirable

Ben Simmons was a three-time All-Star during his stint with the 76ers. However, in his later years, his free-throw shooting and vulnerability on offense led to questions about his value on the court. He signed with the Nets in 2022, but the partnership has been nothing to rave about.

Due to persistent back issues and nerve-related injuries, Simmons featured in just 57 out of the first 191 games for the Nets. In total, he played 90 games for the organization in which he averaged 6.5 points, 6.3 assists and 6.2 rebounds.

A scout told Hoops Wire that there appears to be "no real interest" from NBA teams. Even if Simmons doesn't announce it officially, the curtains are dropping fast on his NBA career.
