All New York Knicks news and rumors indicate the team is looking to upgrade its roster this offseason. Unfortunately, due to their weak trade asset supply and salary cap restrictions, the Knicks may be limited in what they can do. One thing they do need is another big man to share minutes with Mitchell Robinson and Karl-Anthony Towns (assuming he doesn’t get traded). Let’s look at three realistic big men that should be at the top of the Knicks' free agent targets list.

3. Larry Nance Jr.

Larry Nance Jr. is a solid veteran big man. He can score, play decent defense, and won’t make too many mistakes. This is the steady presence the Knicks thrive with. Their methodical offense could use some of the explosive energy that Nance Jr. brings. He is also coming off a down year, so the Knicks could get him for a deal.

2. Chris Boucher

After falling out of the regular rotation in Toronto over the past couple of seasons, Boucher could get a much-needed boost from a move to New York. A versatile defender who can guard wings and protect the rim, Boucher brings exactly the kind of length and switchability the Knicks' defense uses. He’s also quietly efficient on offense, averaging 10 points in just 17.2 minutes per game while shooting nearly 50% from the field and 36.3% from deep. Boucher is still quite young, making him an intriguing Knicks free agent target.

1. Clint Capela

If the Knicks do end up making a Karl-Anthony Towns trade, they are going to need another big man to play heavy minutes. Even if they don’t, Mitchell Robinson can’t handle playing 82 games and will always be more effective in bursts. Capela would be the perfect center to split minutes with Robinson. He’s been a solid starting-level center in the league for over a decade, and he continues to be effective. If the Knicks can get him on a decent contract, he would bring some much-needed stability to the center position.
