NBA analyst gives shocking analogy to Knicks' coaching search image

Coming off their first conference finals appearance in over two decades, the New York Knicks have decided to undergo a big change this offseason. After five years on the job, Tom Thibodeau was relieved of his duties as head coach.

Following this move, the Knicks wasted little time surveying the landscape for a replacement. In recent weeks, they requested permission to interview various head and assistant coaches in the NBA. This ended up being a massive roadblock for New York, as they've been denied countless times.

During Friday's episode of "Run It Back" on FanDuel TV, Michele Beadle discussed the Knicks' coach search with co-hosts Chandler Parsons and Lou Williams. She used an unorthodox analogy for the situation, comparing their efforts to the reality dating show "Love Island."

"It's weird," Beadle said of the Knicks asking to interview multiple current head coaches. "This is like being on Love Island."

Though things haven't worked out for the Knicks thus far, they still have plenty of time to find a successor for Thibodeau. They don't have to dive deep into the open market, as there are plenty of interesting candidates to choose from.

This season, multiple notable head coaches were removed from their positions. Mike Brown was one of the first with the Sacramento Kings, followed by guys such as Taylor Jenkins (Memphis Grizzlies) and Michael Malone (Denver Nuggets).

All three of these coaches have had success in their past situations and could help elevate the Knicks in some way. Still with a lot of options at their disposal, New York should be far from concerned with all their early denials. Armed with a roster ready to contend for a title, it is one of the more intriguing open positions in the NBA.
