Things haven’t been terribly positive for the New York Knicks.
In addition to losing their last two games, the franchise has failed to enter a contest with a clean bill of health.
Mitchell Robinson, the Knicks’ backup center who’s been listed on every injury report thus far, is a prime example of a Knicks contributor who’s been hobbled to start the year.
Robinson has been sidelined for four consecutive games, and could make it five when the Knicks face the Chicago Bulls on Friday night.
Is Mitchell Robinson playing vs. The Bulls?
Surprisingly, Robinson is listed as questionable for the first time this season.
When healthy, the 26-year-old instantly bolsters the Knicks’ backcourt on both ends, making him a fan favorite in New York.
On Thursday, Knicks head coach Mike Brown broke down Robinson’s noticeable two-way impact and the expectations he’ll have when he returns to the hardwood.
“Mitch brings a lot to the table,” Brown told the New York Post’s Stefan Bondy. "Obviously, he hasn’t played in a while too. So he’s not going to be Mitch Robinson in the next five games probably, no matter when he plays or how much he plays.”
“But his length, his versatility, in terms of being able to guard one through five, his ability to offensive rebound, defensive rebound, he just brings a lot to both ends of the floor. You get a vertical threat offensively and an anchor defensively, that it’s hard to replace because he’s a special player at that position.”
It’s safe to say that Brown and the Knicks are patiently awaiting Robinson’s 2025-26 season debut.
