Before the season started, people projected that the New York Knicks were going to be contenders. It was an easy conclusion to make because everyone thought the Eastern Conference was weaker due to major injuries to superstar players.

That was not the truth because pre-season favorites like the Knicks and Cleveland Cavaliers have been disappointing. Now, the Knicks have been getting booed by their fans at Madison Square Garden, which is not a good look.

Brown knows the Knicks deserve the boos

Over the last 18 games, the Knicks have a 7-11 record. It has been a brutal stretch since they won the NBA Cup in December, which has been over a month now.

The Knicks have a talented team across the board, as they have all the weapons to become a contender. Not only do they have a superstar guard in Jalen Brunson, but they also have a one-two punch with star center Karl-Anthony Towns.

With head coach Mike Brown at the helm, the Knicks were flying early in the season. Unfortunately, it has not been the best stretch recently, especially since they are in another losing streak.

This has led to the Knicks getting booed at MSG, which is their home arena. That is not unheard of from the Knicks fans because they are quite passionate and vocal about the team. Brown himself agrees that they deserve the boos with their recent performances.

"I'm okay with the boos. If we're playing crappy, boo. If I were in the stands, I'd probably boo, too. You pay hard money to come to the game, and this is a form of entertainment for the fans. They know good basketball, they know bad basketball," Brown said after the latest loss.

This is an impressive perspective because he is addressing that they do have issues. However, he and his staff must address what is happening on the court.

It will be a lengthy process to get past all the issues they are having. However, the Knicks do have the potential to get past this and return to their status as contenders. With Brown at the helm, equipped with a good roster, that is definitely possible.
