When the New York Knicks signed forward Guerschon Yabusele to a two-year deal over the Summer, Mike Brown and company probably thought they were going to get a bit more out of the Frenchman than they had so far this season.
Instead, Yabusele has only played an average of 9.9 minutes per game, scoring 3.2 points on 40% shooting.
With the trade deadline just around the corner, the Knicks should try to find a replacement for the former Philadelphia 76er, and a familiar face's salary would match Yabusele's.
Knicks urged to trade for former forward Precious Achiuwa
SNY's David Vertsberger tabbed two players the Knicks could acquire in a trade to replace their disappointing free agent signing.
76ers center Andre Drummond and former Knicks forward/center Precious Achiuwa.
"The focus has been on wings and guards, but the Knicks could also look for a big man since their current rotation hinges heavily on Robinson’s health. Two names brought up by Begley are Drummond and Achiuwa," wrote Vertsberger.
"Achiuwa spent a year and a half in New York after coming over in the OG Anunoby deal. He had a mixed career with the Knicks, bouncing in and out of the rotation and between frontcourt positions, but all under former head coach Tom Thibodeau -- opening up a potential avenue for a return and revitalization after having to deal with the Kings."
With Tom Thibodeau gone, an Achiuwa return to New York could be beneficial for both parties.
The 2025-26 Knicks have been very fluid with their rotations, with almost 10 players playing at least 10 minutes per game.
The former Toronto Raptor could carve out a legitimate role for himself in this new iteration of the Knicks.
