The New York Knicks are currently on a downward spiral.
The 2025 Eastern Conference Finals participants have lost their last four games and look less like a championship contender with each defeat.
In an interesting, potential roster-bolstering move, the Jalen Brunson-led Knicks signed a 24-year-old former Oklahoma City Thunder NBA champion guard on Tuesday afternoon.
“The New York Knicks and Dillon Jones have agreed to a two-way deal,” HoopsHype’s Michael Scotto reported on X/Twitter. “Jones was recently the No. 1 pick in the G League Draft. Previously, he was the 26th pick of the 2024 NBA Draft and appeared in 54 games for the Oklahoma City Thunder last season.”
After a standout collegiate career with Weber State, Jones was drafted by the Thunder with the No. 26 overall pick in the 2024 NBA draft. Jones was used sparingly with the Thunder as a rookie, averaging 2.5 points, 2.2 rebounds, and 1.1 assists per game in 10.2 minutes.
However, it’s worth noting that Jones ended his first NBA season on a positive note, as he captured an NBA title with Oklahoma City last June.
Shortly after the Columbia, South Carolina native’s rookie year, the Thunder traded him and a 2029 second-round pick to the Washington Wizards for Colby Jones. Jones has since competed with the South Bay Lakers and Rip City Remix in the G-League.
It’ll be interesting to see if Jones can have a positive impact on a Knicks squad in desperate need of assistance.
