Knicks set franchise history in strong first half versus Hornets image

TL;DR

  • Knicks scored 72 points in the first half against the Hornets.
  • All five Knicks starters achieved double-digit scoring by halftime.
  • This is the first time since at least 1996-97 for this Knicks achievement.

Wednesday saw the New York Knicks's offense performing well against the Charlotte Hornets, even making a bit of franchise history.

On Wednesday, the Knicks demonstrated a powerful first half performance against the Hornets, amassing 72 points. Notably, all five of their starting players—Jalen Brunson, Miles McBride, Josh Hart, Mikal Bridges, and Karl-Anthony Towns—achieved double-digit scoring within the initial half.

According to Stefan Bondy of the New York Post, this marks the first instance since at least before the 1996-97 season, when halftime and quarter statistics began to be recorded, that all five Knicks starters have reached double-digit scoring by halftime.

Under head coach Mike Brown, the Knicks' offense remains a developing entity, yet it has exhibited moments of brilliance early in the season. Wednesday's showing suggests the Knicks' offensive unit might be entering a more productive phase at a crucial juncture of their campaign.
