Knicks officially sign ex-Thunder first-round pick, NBA champion to assist Jalen Brunson image

At 2:00 p.m. On Wednesday, HoopsHype’s Michael Scotto reported that the New York Knicks elected to sign an ex-Oklahoma City Thunder first-round pick and NBA champion to assist Jalen Brunson and the rest of the franchise.

Three hours later, the franchise made the signing official via a press release.

“The New York Knicks announced today the team has signed Dillon Jones to a two-way contract,” the Knicks’ PR X/twitter account announced.

“Jones, 24 years old, most recently played for the Rip City Remix, the NBA G-League affiliate of the Portland Trail Blazers, appearing in 24 games, averaging 16.5 points, 8.0 rebounds, 7.6 assists, and 1.8 steals over 37.5 minutes. During the 2024-25 season, Jones averaged 2.5 points, 2.2 rebounds, and 1.1 assists over 54 games for the Oklahoma City Thunder.”

Jones has been in the NBA for less than two full seasons, yet has already experienced his fair share of ups and downs. Jones’ rookie campaign couldn’t have gone any smoother.

The Weber State product not only received a golden opportunity to learn from the best but also won a championship in exhilarating fashion (the Thunder defeated the Indiana Pacers in an entertaining seven-game NBA Finals series).

Things have been a bit challenging since then, as the Columbia, South Carolina native has been traded twice (once in the NBA and once in the G-League), and hasn’t made an appearance in the big leagues as a second-year contributor.

The Knicks will likely help change that going forward.
