One of the biggest complaints surrounding Tom Thibodeau's tenure as head coach of the New York Knicks was the propensity to play his players heavy minutes.

It was arguably one of the main reasons for his firing, that and a stubborn approach to changing his rotations in the postseason.

Well, last night in the final minutes of a fairly lopsided game, Knicks head coach Mike Brown had superstar Jalen Brunson in the game down 17 points, and Brunson turned his ankle. The former Villanova standout ended up leaving the game in a walking boot, leaving fans wondering how serious the injury is.

Alex B, or KnicksCentral on X, made a fantastic point about the hypocrisy surrounding the Brunson injury, pointing out that if Thibodeau were still the head coach, people would be losing their minds that the team's superstar was still on the floor in a lopsided loss.

"One of the biggest critiques of Thibs Knicks tenure was leaving starting players in the game even in blowouts," wrote Alex B.

"Last night Mike Brown left JALEN BRUNSON in the game in the last 2 mins of a blow out & he got hurt (left arena in crutches/boot). If Thibs had done this it would be WW3."

Brown was hired to be the antithesis of Thibodeau, so it is frustrating to see the same criticisms fans and analysts would've had for Thibs in the same situation ignored for the new coach.

It remains to be seen just how banged up Brunson is, but leaving the Garden in a walking boot and crutches is certainly not a good sign.

Someone pointed out in the replies of KnicksCentral's post that no one asked Brown about his decision to leave Brunson in during his post-game press conference, so maybe that's something that will be addressed in the coming days.
