Under Tom Thibodeau, the New York Knicks' offense was a bit vanilla at times.

In crunch time, especially in the postseason, it would boil down to giving Jalen Brunson the ball and letting him work. While it led to some gaudy numbers for the former Villanova star, it wasn't always the most effective style of offense.

New head coach Mike Brown wants to make the offense multi-dimensional and get other players more involved, which should lead to less of a burden on the Knicks' biggest stars.

Mike Brown Stresses Importance of Getting the Whole Team Involved on Offense

During New York's media day, Brown spoke to the media about some of his offensive plans, specifically for Brunson and Karl-Anthony Towns.

"The biggest thing is we want to move KAT around. We don’t want to keep him in the trail spot or at the top of the floor all the time. We want to move him around to the weak corner, strong corner, weak wing and sometimes as the push man offensively," Brown said via The Athletic.

While not confirmed, it sounds like Towns will be spending more time at power forward during the 2025-26 season than he did under Thibodeau, with Mitchell Robinson being inserted into the starting lineup full-time.

As for Brunson, Towns said Brown is going to look to use him in a Steph Curry-like role for the Knicks' offense.

"He’s one of the best point guards in the NBA so, of course, when he has the ball, people take notice. If Mike Brown said (he wants to use Brunson more off the ball), we’re going to have to do a better job of getting him open, in a way like Steph Curry. We need to make it easier for him to get the ball in space and clean looks at the rim."

There's plenty of reason for excitement surrounding New York as they enter their first season under Brown, but his plans offensively for the team will be a breath of fresh air compared to what fans have seen the last five years under Thibs.
