The New York Knicks defeated the San Antonio Spurs 124-113 on Tuesday night, claiming the third-ever NBA Cup championship.
It was the first for New York, and a sweet one at that. Superstar point guard Jalen Brunson was voted MVP of the tournament, and the final featured some key performances from bench players such as Jordan Clarkson and Tyler Kolek.
But the burning question in the wake of the win is: Will the Knicks raise an NBA Cup championship banner in the rafters of Madison Square Garden?

Ian Begley says the Knicks will not raise an NBA Cup banner
According to SNY's Ian Begley, New York will not be raising a banner in honor of their first NBA Cup victory.
"Knicks will not raise an NBA Cup banner at Madison Square Garden, per league source. NYK doesn't want to diminish accomplishment but has bigger goals in mind, winning title in June, source said," wrote Begley in a post on X.
"NYK is very proud of players & staff winning NBA Cup and will celebrate players/acknowledge title on Friday, giving home fans chance to congratulate players, source said."
The previous two winners, the Los Angeles Lakers and Milwaukee Bucks, each raised banners for their cup victories.
New York will refrain and instead keep their eyes on the main prize — their first NBA championship since 1973.
