The New York Knicks are rumored to be interested in a trade for Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo. The rumor mill was once again ignited after a misleading yet viral post started gaining traction on the internet.
A X user named @BigKnickEnergy_ posted an update, claiming that the Bucks star has just purchased a home in New York. The post has received over 400K impressions within a few hours. Naturally, some were made to believe that it suggests that the Greek Freak was considering a move to New York.
However, it didn't take long to figure out why the post was false. The update came with a screenshot that had 18th Nov, 2025, as the date of purchase. That was almost a month ago.

Did Giannis Antetokounmpo indeed purchase a home in New York?
Yes, he did purchase a property, but over a month ago.
The Bucks star splurged $14.1 million to acquire a 28-unit residential building at 111 Clarkson Avenue, in the Prospect Lefferts Gardens neighborhood of Brooklyn. It is an eight-story apartment building built in 2018. All 28 units in the building are rent-regulated, and the building has an existing tax-abatement benefit under a 421-a program.
It's a real estate investment with the intention to generate cash flow rather than a personal residence. The building joins his investment portfolio.
Meanwhile, as far as the trade rumors tying Giannis to the Knicks are concerned, the parties were closer in August. Antetokounmpo confided in at least one Bucks teammate that he saw the Knicks as a preferred trade destination. Even the Bucks reportedly asked the Knicks to present them with offers involving the former NBA champion. However, it seems the negotiations or the offers were not enough for a deal to come through.
