Knicks could trade for familiar face at this year’s trade deadline image

The New York Knicks could be targeting a familiar face at the trade deadline this season as they look to make upgrades to their depth.

Per SNY’s Ian Begley, Sacramento Kings big man Precious Achiuwa could be on the Knicks’ radar at the deadline. Achiuwa suited up for the Knicks for two seasons from 2023-2025, averaging 7.1 points, and 6.3 rebounds per game in that span. He was part of the trade that sent him, and OG Anunoby from the Toronto Raptors to the Knicks in 2023.

“Is a reunion in the cards? I don't know, I just wonder because of the situation,” Begley said.

Achiuwa earned a lot of respect from Knicks fans during his time with the team thanks to his high energy off the bench. Originally just a throw-in for the Anunoby trade, Achiuwa quickly became a key part of the Knicks’ success during his time with the team.

Now in Sacramento, Achiuwa is averaging 7.9 points and 5.5 rebounds per game this season. With the Kings’ lowly 6-20 record, they could opt to move some of their veterans, such as Achiuwa, at the deadline.

The Knicks will continue to monitor similar situations around the league as they look to round out their roster to make a push for the NBA championship this season.
