Miles "Deuce" McBride may be the most important player the New York Knicks have on their bench.
He's averaging a career high 27 minutes and 12.7 points per game, but it's McBride's success from three-point range that has taken a dramatic leap. The 25-year-old is taking 6.6 threes per game, knocking down those attempts from long range at a 45% clip.
"You can make an argument that Deuce McBride is the best three-point shooter in the league right now," MSG Network's Tyler Murray said during the broadcast of the Knicks-Los Angeles Clippers matchup on Wednesday.
"He entered tonight at 46% - that ranks fifth," Murray added. "But among the top five, he's the only guy taking six a game."
The best long-range shooter?
As of Thursday morning, Bobby Portis of the Milwaukee Bucks leads the NBA with a 47% three point percentage. But he only attempts 4.1 shots from beyond the arc a game.
Stephen Curry is obviously the face of the three-point shot in basketball, and there will constantly be an argument to be made that the Golden State Warriors star is the best three-point shooter in the NBA "right now."
Fans of Curry likely understand that Murray's comments about McBride pertained to the last few weeks, rather than the season as a whole. But the Knicks would love their fifth-year guard to continue his recent hot streak.
