ESPN's Shams Charania is reporting that the Sacramento Kings are signing former New York Knicks big man Precious Achiuwa.

"Free agent Precious Achiuwa has agreed on a deal with the Sacramento Kings, sources tell ESPN," Sharania posted on X.

"Achiuwa enters his sixth NBA season and gives the Kings immediate rebounding and defensive versatility."

Former Knick Precious Achiuwa signs with Kings

The Miami Heat selected the Memphis product 20th overall in the 2020 NBA draft and spent his first season there before being traded to the Toronto Raptors.

Achiuwa had been with the Knicks for the last two seasons, having come over from the Raptors in the OG Anunoby trade.

It was a homecoming for the Nigerian-born Achuiwa, who had played high school basketball in New York and New Jersey for Our Savior Lutheran in the Bronx and St. Benedict's Prep in Newark.

In 106 games and 28 starts, the former first-round pick averaged 7.1 points, 6.3 rebounds, and one assist, shooting 51% from the floor.

Former head coach Tom Thibodeau was a fan of his size and defensive acuity, using him as the backup center.

Achiuwa was a key role player in the 2023-24 postseason, filling in for the injured Mitchell Robinson when he went down with an ankle injury.

When Mike Brown became head coach, New York opted not to re-sign Achiuwa and pivoted to stretch big man Guerschon Yabusele, who provides more on offense than the former Raptor.

In Sacramento, he figures to come off the bench in a reserve role, spelling Domantas Sabonis and Drew Eubanks.
