The New York Knicks were down by double digits when Karl-Anthony Towns decided to go to work.
It was the NBA Cup final on Tuesday night against the San Antonio Spurs, and KAT went into attack mode.
Towns scored on two consecutive possessions, forcing a timeout by the Spurs.
Except during the stoppage, Towns limped off. He had been injured on the second drive.
Towns remained on the bench after the timeout. He was clearly favoring his left leg, and trainers were giving him some attention at the end of the Knicks' bench.
Mitchell Robinson subbed into the game for the Knicks at center.
At the time KAT exited, the Knicks trailed 82-75.
Twice in a row, Towns had gone to his patented shot fake and drive left, and on the second one, he used some physicality with his upper body to create space. But a look at a replay showed that Towns' left foot may have landed weird or twisted a bit.
The announcers on the Amazon Prime Video broadcast didn't quite figure out what had happened, but Towns was out of the game at an unfortunate time in the second half of the championship game.
UPDATE: Amazon reported that KAT is dealing with a calf injury, which he has had an issue with before.
