The New York Knicks have won their last two contests without Josh Hart on the hardwood (right ankle sprain).

The Knicks escaped with a three-point victory over the Atlanta Hawks on Saturday and a five-point win over the New Orleans Pelicans on Monday, improving to 23-9 on the year.

Still, it would be nice for New York to be at full strength when they face the up-and-coming San Antonio Spurs on Wednesday.

Is Josh Hart playing for the Knicks tonight vs. The Spurs?

No, Hart isn’t playing for the Knicks tonight vs. The Spurs. Per the Athletic’s James L Edwards III's Dec. 27 report, Hart is slated to miss at least one more contest with his lower-body injury, meaning New York will be tasked with defeating San Antonio on the road with the do-it-all forward sidelined.

With the Knicks having 50 regular-season games remaining on their schedule and being in solid shape at this stage of the season, New York doesn’t feel comfortable taking any unnecessary risks.

Hart is the type of game-changing two-way asset the Knicks need come playoff time if they want to get over the hump and reach the NBA Finals in June.

Hart has been tremendous in his role with the Knicks this season, averaging 12.3 points, 8.0 rebounds, and 5.1 assists per game while shooting 49.8% from the field and 38.9% from three.

Sometimes, adopting a cautious approach is the best way to go for a contending NBA franchise like the Knicks.
