The New York Jets are 0-5 and currently the only winless team in the NFL.

Tanner Engstrand's offense looks servicable on paper, but some detractors may point to garbage time stat padding as to the reason why it looks better than how they actually perform. They haven't scored a first-half touchdown since Week 1 against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Aaron Glenn and Steve Wilks' defense has been atrocious and is the most obvious culprit for the disastrous start. That side of the ball is going to need a total makeover in the offseason, but with the trade deadline just around the corner, could they get a jumpstart on reshaping the defense under Glenn?

Jets urged to trade linebacker Quincy Williams

Michael Nania of Jet X Factor recently listed three players on the Jets roster that could be trade candidates ahead of November's deadline, with linebacker Quincy Williams named as a possible trade chip.

"After re-signing him to a three-year, $18 million deal following the 2022 season, Williams outplayed his contract with an All-Pro season in 2023, but the Jets never rewarded him with a new deal. Later on, they went out and re-signed the younger Jamien Sherwood to a three-year, $45 million ahead of the 2025 season (which has backfired so far)," wrote Nania.

"As a player whose game is built on athleticism, Williams does not project as a player who will perform well into his thirties. That may be why the Jets’ previous regime never extended him beyond his current deal."

Williams, the brother of Jets All-Pro defensive tackle Quinnen Williams, is entering the last year of his contract and is not likely to return to New York.

Instead of losing him for nothing next March, New York could try and find a trade partner in need of linebacker depth.

As of Week 6, Williams is currently on injured reserve with a shoulder injury, but is expected to be back by Week 8, right before the trade deadline.

Fetching a late 2026 pick for the former All-Pro linebacker doesn't seem out of the realm of possibility.
