Guerschon Yabusele addresses his future with the Knicks following trade rumors image

Given their financial situation, the New York Knicks didn't have a ton of money to spend in 2025 free-agency.

Having made the Eastern Conference Finals last season, many thought that even small additions could help bring them to their first NBA Finals appearance since 1999.

That's why it was a big deal when New York signed veterans Jordan Clarkson and Guerschon Yabusele. Clarkson, a former Sixth Man of the Year award winner offered New York depth at point guard behind Jalen Brunson. As for Yabusele, he seemed like a reliable option to replace Karl-Anthony Towns and Mitchell Robinson off the bench, having had a career-year in Philadelphia a season prior.

That said, Yabusele hasn't even scratched the surface of the production that many expected for him. After averaging 11 points and 5.6 rebounds last season, Yabusele is averaging 3.1 and 2.1 rebounds for the Knicks in less than 10 minutes per game.

Due to his decrease in production and the nature of his contract, Yabusele's name has been involved in trade rumors. His two-year $12 million contract makes him a perfect candidate as opposed to minimum contracts that wouldn't allow New York to acquire a stronger player in return.

With rumors swirling about a possible deal for weeks, Yabusele took to social media to address the issue. “I’m just like you, I don’t know anything about it. As I’ve said, I’m trying not to complain too much about my situation anymore, to make do with what I’ve got, to give everything on the court. And when I need to be informed (about a potential trade), I’ll be informed.”

Although New York's front office may have already made up their mind, Yabusele seems committed to doing whatever is asked of him.

As the trade deadline nears, we'll find out soon enough whether or not the Knicks move on from Yabusele.
