With the recent news that the Los Angeles Clippers and future Hall of Fame point guard Chris Paul will part ways, the New York Knicks could become involved.

The Clippers cannot trade Paul until December 15, but they can waive him, or the two parties can agree to a buyout. The 40-year-old announced in November that the 2025-26 season would be his last after a 21-year career.

If Paul wants to continue playing, do the Knicks make sense?

"Though there are several factors at play when it comes to this stark contrast in production for New York, perhaps the most notable is the fact that, without [Jalen] Brunson, there's no one who understands how to properly run the offense," Mark Nilon of Daily Knicks wrote Wednesday.

"Paul is someone who could do just that for them," Nilon added. "While he may be far from his prime All-Star days, the future Hall of Famer has still proven himself capable of quarterbacking an offense during these twilight years of his career."

Paul or Tyler Kolek?

Second-year guard Tyler Kolek is still developing his game in the NBA and is a valuable bench piece who hustles and has excellent vision on offense.

Knicks head coach Mike Brown has Kolek at nearly 10 minutes per game, and he's performed well with the second unit.

Even so, the Knicks could consider Paul, someone who is not nearly the same player he once was but can still direct an offense without Brunson on the floor.

In 16 games with the Clippers, Paul averaged just 14.3 minutes per contest. He played 28 minutes per game last year with the San Antonio Spurs and averaged 7.4 assists while shooting 37.7% from three.
