Zion Williamson hasn’t made a convincing case to remain with the New Orleans Pelicans past the Feb. 5 trade deadline.

While the former No. 1 overall pick has had plenty of bright moments with the Pelicans, his tenure has been wildly disappointing thus far.

Availability truly is the best ability, and unfortunately for Williamson, injuries (he’s played in 60 or more regular-season games just twice since the start of the 2019-20 campaign) have played a significant role in his underwhelming start to his NBA career.

According to an NBA insider, the Pelicans have made their decision on whether or not to part ways with Williamson this season.

“Sources: New Orleans Pelicans are disappointing the market in informing teams that Zion Williamson, Trey Murphy, Herb Jones, Derik Queen, and Jeremiah Fears will remain with the organization past Feb. 5 trade deadline,” Chris Haynes reported Friday.

It’s safe to say New Orleans values Williamson enough to keep him on its roster for the rest of the 2025-26 season. Either that, or the organization doesn’t believe the 25-year-old will generate enough trade interest in the next few weeks to place him on the market.

Either way, Williamson will get another opportunity to prove he’s an asset worth building around for the foreseeable future.

Williamson, who’s averaging 22.8 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 3.4 assists with the Pelicans this year and missed over 15 games due to injuries, must improve his health moving forward to reach his full potential.
