The Minnesota Timberwolves have the most efficient playoff scorer in the history of the NBA on their roster.
Well, they did, until they declined his player option.
If we set the minimum minutes very low, Luka Garza holds that distinction, ahead of even Michael Jordan.
Garza has scored more playoff points than he has played playoff minutes.
On Sunday, Minnesota declined his player option for $2.35 million, according to Michael Scotto.
Garza will become an unrestricted free agent.
MORE: Lakers trading LeBron James seems to be a door left open
The former Iowa superstar is 6-foot-10 and averaged 3.5 points and 1.4 rebounds per game in the 2024-25 regular season.
Garza is 26 years old, but he became expendable after the draft picks of Joan Beringer and Rocco Zikarsky and the extensions to Naz Reid and Julius Randle.
The problem for Garza isn't offense, but defense, where he's a liability in pick-and-roll coverage.
Since teams don't really throw the ball down on the block anymore, Garza's best skill is less key than it used to be, but it's still impressive how well he can score.
Maybe someone out there will give Garza a slightly larger chance to prove himself. It could work out, but it won't be Minnesota.
