The Minnesota Timberwolves are still in need of a point guard.
It doesn't look like a trade for Ja Morant will be forthcoming, though.
NBA insider Marc Stein reported Tuesday that Morant does not want to be traded from the Memphis Grizzlies.
Stein appeared on SiriusXM NBA Radio and had this to say about it all:
“Zach Kleiman is way too pragmatic to let one game change that much. Ja has made it very clear he does not want to get traded. He wants to stay. The reality is I don’t think there is a huge market for him. I don’t think there’s a trade the Grizzlies could make to sell to their fans… He wants to stay but he also wants to have more say like he used too. The franchise does not revolve around Ja Morant anymore like It used too. When Ja Morant clashed with the coach early in the season the (front office) stood behind the coach in that scenario."

Minnesota may not have been the most likely to land Morant in the first place, but they still factored into every rumor.
Mike Conley aged out of being a starting point guard, and Donte DiVincenzo may not be the most natural at that spot.
Anthony Edwards does plenty of playmaking, so he can carry a lot of the load.
It would still be useful for the Wolves to have a ball handler that allows Edwards to play away from the basketball at times.
The trade deadline will arrive in February, and Minnesota may be active.
Based on this news, though, Morant may not be on the move after all.
