NBA insider cites minor chance of Giannis Antetokounmpo trade image

As the NBA Finals slowly comes to a close, the official start of the offseason is just around the corner. The Milwaukee Bucks remain a heavily talked about team heading into the summer, largely due to the discourse around Giannis Antetokounmpo.

After numerous stars changed teams this season, there has been endless speculation on the Milwaukee Bucks star being next. While he is still one of the NBA's most dominant forces, the franchise has not been able to put a suitable contending roster around him. Between the front office's minimal pool of assets and Damian Lillard coming off an Achilles injury, some feel the two-time MVP should start thinking about a change of scenery.

Back in May, Shams Charnaia put out a report that Giannis had an "open-mindedness" to playing elsewhere moving forward. However, nothing has come about from this. In recent weeks, the two-time MVP has not gone to the franchise and expressed a desire to be traded. Even though Giannis seemingly remains committed to the Bucks now, one insider isn't totally ruling out the possibility that he's moved.

While appearing on FanDuel TV's "Run It Back" show Thursday, Sam Amick was asked his thoughts on the Bucks star hitting the trade market. He believes there's a small percentage chance that Giannis will move on from Milwaukee in the coming months.

Giannis has had a long journey with the Bucks, going from an under-the-radar first-round pick to developing into an all-time great. He's already cemented himself as one of the best players in franchise history, delivering the Bucks a championship back in 2021. Seeing that he's been one of the most loyal stars in the NBA for the past decade, Amick was smart to keep his percentage low.

If this season has taught us anything, it's that a shocking move is always just around the corner in the NBA. Because of this, the Bucks dealing away their franchise cornerstone this offseason is not something that should be completely ruled out.
