Over the past year, the Milwaukee Bucks have seen multiple members of their title-winning core move on to new teams. Following the latest departure, Giannis Antetokounmpo wants to see one of his now ex-teammates be honored for their time with the franchise.
Heading into free agency, Brook Lopez was among the players the Bucks' front office was attempting to retain. However, despite being one of the longer-tenured members on the team, the former All-Star opted for a change of scenery. In the initial frenzy of signings to kick off free agency, Lopez inked a two-year deal to join the LA Clippers.
This signing marks the end of a seven-year run for Lopez in Milwaukee. As he embarks on this new chapter of his career, Bucks fans speculated on the idea of his jersey being retired. Giannis Antetokounmpo ended up joining this discourse, stating that he thinks Lopez is more than deserving of such an honor.

Lopez first joined the Bucks in 2018 after a brief stint with the LA Lakers. He quickly became a key piece to the roster with his strong two-way play. Along with being an elite-level rim protector, Lopez was an ideal complement to Giannis because of his ability to stretch the floor at the center position. Together, the frontcourt duo helped deliver Milwaukee a championship in 2021.
It did not take long for the Bucks to find a suitable replacement for Lopez on the open market. After not being able to work out a new deal with the Indiana Pacers, veteran big man Myles Turner signed a four-year deal with Milwaukee. With a similar skill set as Lopez, he should have similar success on both ends playing off Giannis.
