The Milwaukee Bucks lost in the first round of the NBA Playoffs to the Indiana Pacers in five games. Right away, the biggest question was the future of superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo.
Will the Bucks trade away Giannis? He has been the franchise cornerstone and helped bring an NBA title to the city, but there are rumblings that the Bucks will move on and rebuild to begin a new era.
On Monday, the same day as the NBA Draft lottery, ESPN's Shams Charania gave an important update on the Giannis front during an episode of "Get Up."
"Sources tell me that Giannis Antetokounmpo, for the first time in his career, he's open-minded about exploring whether his best fit moving forward is outside of Milwaukee," Charania said. "He's going to explore that... He is the biggest domino in the NBA right now. He's a 30-year-old in the prime of his career. His potential availability is something all 29 teams outside of Milwaukee are monitoring."
So, Charania says Giannis will explore his options, but he also said that he has "potential availability," which makes it sound like there is a legitimate chance that he decides to stay put.
"He's gonna have the next few weeks to explore his options," Charania concluded.
If Giannis is available, essentially every team should at least have some interest in the superstar, although not every team would have enough assets to make a compelling offer to the Bucks.
Still, it seems that it is up to Giannis if he wants to stay or go elsewhere for the first time in his career, so the next few weeks should be interesting from that perspective.
