The Milwaukee Bucks are gearing up for a playoff push in the 2025-26 campaign and are ready to welcome a new face to the city after waiving superstar point guard Damian Lillard.
The Bucks shocked the NBA last Tuesday by signing Myles Turner to a four-year, $107 million deal. To make the move possible, they waived Lillard and stretched the remaining $113 million on his contract over the next five years.
Bucks general manager Jon Horst spoke on the acquisition and shared his vision for Turner’s fit in Milwaukee, per a team press release Monday.
“We are thrilled that Myles chose our team and city!” Horst said. “He’s a winner and a dynamic player who fits us on both ends of the court. This is a big day for the Bucks and the Milwaukee community, and we are excited to welcome Myles and his family.”
Turner arrives to Milwaukee after helping lead the Indiana Pacers — one of the Bucks’ fiercest rivals — to an NBA Finals appearance. He was the Pacers’ longest-tenured player, having spent the first 10 years of his career in Indiana. While the two sides were reportedly open to a reunion, the Bucks made an offer Turner couldn’t refuse.

The 29-year-old was a key contributor for Indiana in 2024-25, during which he averaged 15.6 points, 6.5 rebounds, 2.2 three-pointers, 2.0 blocks and 1.5 assists across 72 regular-season appearances.
Now, Milwaukee is set to pair the talented center with two-time MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo in a bold move to stay in title contention — and to keep their franchise cornerstone from requesting a trade.
