Milwaukee Bucks head coach Doc Rivers dealt an oddly timed blow to his injured superstar, Giannis Antetokounmpo, in comments during his press conference on Tuesday night.
The Bucks were playing in Philadelphia, which turned out to be a 17-point win for the 76ers, and Rivers was asked about Joel Embiid.
Rivers coached Embiid earlier in his career, and the big center is now playing quite well after again battling injury trouble early this season.

That's when Rivers dropped a line that he simply did not have to say:
"Joel is the most talented player I've ever coached."
Whether it's true or not is so far from the point that it's not even worth analyzing.
What in the world is Rivers doing?
Antetokounmpo has been in trade rumors all season long. He's one of the best players on the planet, and he's the only saving grace on a team that is now 3-12 without him on the court this season and is going to be missing him for a month or so with a calf injury.

Rivers clearly can't figure out a way to help his team win games without Antetokounmpo, and plenty of fans are starting to question his worthiness to remain the Milwaukee coach going forward.
And that's the moment he chooses to push Giannis aside and show love to a player from another team.
There's nothing wrong with Rivers saying positive things about Embiid. He could've done it a lot of ways.
But this way? Just brutal.
