Shortly after returning from an ankle injury that kept him out to start the season, Miami Heat guard Tyler Herro is now sidelined once again with a toe injury.

While it isn’t believed to be serious, it puts a halt on Herro’s return to game-speed. Herro has gotten off to a strong start since his return, averaging 23.8 points per game on 52 percent shooting from the floor, and 48 percent from three-point range in five games.

Herro spoke with Anthony Chiang from the Miami Herald about the injury, and what it could mean for him going forward.

“I’m just day by day right now,” Herro said. “Not sure what happened. I got a little soreness in my big toe. I got kicked in the 1st quarter the other night in the back of my calf, then I woke up and my big toe was hurting. It’s unfortunate but is what it is.”

The Heat will hope Herro’s injury isn’t too serious as they look to continue their strong start to the season. At 14-8, and fourth in the Eastern Conference currently, the Heat are looking to rebound after a disappointing season last year. The best way to do that will be to ensure that Herro is on the court and healthy.
