It’s been a weird season of ups and downs for the Miami Heat. Nonetheless, the team feels like they are better than their win-loss record may indicate.

After a strong start to the season saw Miami be one of the top teams in the Eastern Conference after the first few weeks, Miami has slipped back to a 15-15 record, and just eighth in the Eastern Conference.

Last season was a disappointing one for the Heat, as they finished 37-45, made the playoffs as the eighth seed, but were swept out of the first round in embarrassing fashion, all of this occurring in the midst of trading away franchise icon Jimmy Butler to the Golden State Warriors.

Now struggling once again this season, members of the team don’t believe this is a repeat of last year, and that they are better than their current record shows.

“I think it’s a tough stretch, we’re not as bad as our record…because we know how good we are — it’s tough we had some games we for sure could’ve won…I feel like we just need to find a way to win,” forward Nikola Jovic said.

The Heat will now look to turn the page heading into the new calendar year as they look to get back in the mix for a top seed in the Eastern Conference this season.
