Former NBA champion believes Ja Morant can finally be 'free' if he goes to the Miami Heat image

Over the past few years, the Memphis Grizzlies have enjoyed Ja Morant as their star player. Unfortunately, it appears a trade away from Memphis is on the cards after reports of them being interested in a move.

The Miami Heat are the team that is most rumored to be interested in the trade. With reports of Morant apparently wanting to join the Heat, the interest looks to be mutual. This has led to discourse surrounding Morant's fit with the Heat, especially within the Heat Culture.

Morant could play more freely in Miami

As a point guard who thrives in transition play, Morant might not have been the best fit for the Heat in previous years. That has all changed this season because head coach Erik Spoelstra made a sudden turn with his system.

Nowadays, the Heat are playing at the fastest pace in the league. They love running, which has led to transition masters like Jaime Jaquez Jr. And Norman Powell having career-best years.

As a former champion, Iman Shumpert knows what it takes to succeed in the NBA. He was one of the scrappy players for that team, and he knows what it's like playing against the Heat. They have had a strong culture for a long time, and Shumpert feels Morant could fit in.

"I think when he gets into that Heat uniform, he's gonna be able to have a little fun, and play free," Shumpert said on ESPN's NBA Today.

Morant is an excellent point guard who has been superb for the Grizzlies for a long time. However, the Heat could be the change of scenery he needs to be the best player he can be.

At the moment, Morant is still with the Grizzlies. The front office is testing the market, but it appears the Heat are the front-runners. If Morant does leave Memphis, he might find the right fit for himself in Miami.
