Miami Heat center Ban Adebayo has had a tough season offensively, and many NBA pundits are beginning to take notice.

On the season, Adebayo is averaging 18.3 points and 9.4 rebounds per game while shooting 47 percent from the floor, and 29 percent from three-point range. In his last 10 games, he’s averaging just 17.3 points per game on the same efficiency. Adebayo’s offensive leap has simply never shown up, and at this point many are questioning if it ever will.

Ex-NBA player Brian Scalabrine recently commented on Adebayo’s struggles offensively on Sirius XM NBA Radio, putting most of the blame on Adebayo’s questionable shot selection.

“I think he can be one of the best players in the NBA but he’s just an average offensive player. He has the tools to be a great player. When he drives to the basket, certain players will figure out how to use their body to get a layup, he’ll end up taking a fadeaway jumper. It’s his inability to get 4/5 of those ‘I’m just bigger than you and I'm laying the ball up.’ If everything is a jump hook or fadeaway, you’re never going to be an efficient player,” Scalabrine said.

Nonetheless, Adebayo’s defense has made him one of Miami’s most important players, now they’ll look for his offense to step up as the Heat have entered a rough patch following a strong start to the 2025-26 season.
