The Miami Heat could be in the market for a new superstar.
Since parting ways with Jimmy Butler, Miami has tried to replace him internally with Tyler Herro, to middling success. He's just not as productive a star as the current Golden State Warrior.
But is there someone out there who could turn the Heat's fortune around?
Bill Simmons' Heat trade idea lands Ja Morant
Bill Simmons, host of The Bill Simmons Podcast and founder of The Ringer, proposed a trade idea for the Heat to land Memphis Grizzlies point guard Ja Morant.
Miami Heat receives: Ja Morant, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope
Memphis Grizzlies receive: Tyler Herro, Terry Rozier
"Memphis basically turns Ja into Herro and Rozier's expiring. They roll the dice that Ja can be turned into a superstar again," Simmons said.
"I do like that Miami trade. As someone who hates the Heat, if that trade happened, I'd be like [expletive]. They're gonna fix Ja Morant."
If this trade is something that's on the table for Miami right now, it would be a no-brainer to ship out Herro and Rozier for a player of Morant's caliber, even if you have to take on Caldwell-Pope's contract to do so.
The former Murray State product could be the franchise cornerstone that Pat Riley and company have been looking for since the departure of Butler.
As of now, the No. 2 pick in the 2019 NBA draft has yet to request a trade out of Memphis, and until he does so, he's likely not going anywhere.
