Following Trae Young's trade from the Atlanta Hawks to the Washington Wizards, there may be another domino set to fall in the point guard market.

On Friday, NBA insider Shams Charania of ESPN reported that the Memphis Grizzlies are officially entertaining offers to trade former No. 2 overall pick Ja Morant.

Morant has spent the past seven years in Memphis, winning a Rookie of the Year award, a Most Improved Player of the Year award and receiving two All-Star selections. Morant also made an All-NBA team in the 2021-22 season.

In 325 games for the Grizzlies, Morant is averaging 22.4 points, 7.6 assists, 3.2 rebounds and 1 steal per game.

Despite his star potential, things haven't worked out for him and the Grizzlies recently. After reaching the Western Conference semifinals in the 2021-22 season, the Grizzlies have made the playoffs only twice since.

Those appearances both ended in first-round exits, including last year's sweep at the hands of the Oklahoma City Thunder.

This season hasn't gone much better, as Morant has appeared in less than half of the team's 37 games, with Memphis sitting at 16-21, 10th in the Western Conference.

With the constant turmoil between Morant, the front office and his coach, Memphis seems content to move on from its star.

As the trade deadline approaches (Feb. 5), the Grizzlies will have plenty of time to find the best deal possible.

That said, considering the questions surrounding his personality, previous off-court issues and Atlanta's return for Trae Young, the Grizzlies may not be able to maximize their return.
